WEST BRANCH

The vision for such a centre was that of Mary Irwin who began fundraising in 1984.
To thank her for her work , the centre will be named after her.
Thanks also goes to the many other people who have helped to swell the funds needed for this enterprise and enabled Mary's dream to become a reality.
For the past 25 years, Animal Concern West Cumbria has been caring for and rehoming dogs from Northside, Workington.
Over this time, the dedicated team of volunteers who care for the dogs have managed, in difficult conditions without mains electricity all year round, rain or shine.
The move to the new centre means that the dogs and volunteers will have the luxury of electric light and heating in the winter for the first time, as well as an on-site washing machine. Volunteers no longer have to take loads of washing home with them!
Each dog now has their own kennel. They now have access to an off-lead exercise and training area donated by the late Steph Barnes, a purpose-built dog walking area, a Sensory Garden and a lovely meet and greet room.
