Sponsored Dog Walks 25th. May

The Sponsored Dog Walks of 3, 5 and 8 miles were held in Workington on the 25th May; the weather was kind to us and although a little breezy in places, it was ideal for walking.

We had kennel dogs Pepe, Grip and Levi in attendance together with George from his foster home. There were also some dogs who had previously been adopted - the most recent being Max, the Springer Spaniel.

The pictures show some of the dogs at the start, at about the middle point of the eight mile walk and finally of Levi who decided he wanted a bit of a lift from Scott, who gladly obliged!

The money raised will be shown later after the sponsors have paid up.

Special thanks must go to David who worked tirelessly in providing a fun event which was so well organised. Each participant had a pack detailing the route to be followed and there were even doggie poop bags provided! There was a water station halfway round the longest walk so that the dogs could have a welcome drink. Signposts were provided from time to time and pointers to places where fresh drinking water could be found.

For the successful completion of the walks, entry was made to a small raffle and prizes kindly provided by PET CENTRAL were won.

Thanks to all the participants and their sponsors.

Dog Show at Eskdale

The dog show at Eskdale hosted by the Staffordshire Bull Terrier society on the 17th. May was a great success. Thanks to our hosts for inviting us to run stalls for selling bric-a-brac ,a raffle and tombola.

The weather was fine, although a little overcast and there were plenty of staffies present!!

Our kennel dogs were represented by Fizz, Pepe and Levi. One of our former dogs, Alby, also took part in the competitions.

We were quite successful in that Fizz won First Prize in the Veterans competition, she can be seen showing off her rosette. Alby won fifth place in the same competition.

Levi won first prize in the Best Six Legs competition and Pepe got a Very Honourable Commendation in this too.

Pepe also came second in the Rehomed dogs category, which was open to dogs waiting for rehoming (like Pepe) as well as successfully rehomed dogs.

Thanks must go to all the volunteers who came on the day, for bringing the kennel dogs down and for help in running the stalls.

The biggest thanks must go to Babs (ably assisted by Gordon ) who did all the hard graft behind the scenes .

A sum of just over £500 was raised, which is really magnificent and will go to support us in our work .

Thanks to everyone who contributed.
